Cross wire welding joins longitudinal and cross wires by resistance welding precisely at their intersection – in a single operation this produces load-bearing fence panels, security mesh and grid structures. Anyone welding mesh industrially needs a machine that hits this intersection reliably in high volumes and automates the process for wire products in mild steel, stainless steel or galvanised wire precisely, quickly and reproducibly. Two machine concepts are available for mesh and fence production – depending on whether flat series products or three-dimensional combined parts of wire and sheet metal are to be manufactured.

Welding mesh: how does cross wire welding work technically?
In cross wire welding, two intersecting wires are heated and welded at their point of contact by current flow and mechanical contact pressure. The process is a form of resistance welding and requires no filler material.
iDEAL-Werk machines generate the welding current using medium-frequency technology at 1,000 Hz and control contact force and current individually for each electrode. As a result, every intersection receives a consistently strong joint, regardless of wire diameter and material grade.
